It’s That Time….

It’s That Time….

Every so often,  I get the urge to reread my favorite books. Usually, it’s when I am in a more proactive, but reflective time in my life.

These are my two goto choices.

Book of Shadows: A Modern Woman’s Journey into the Wisdom of Witchcraft and the Magic of the Goddess by Phyllis Curott– When Phyllis Curott, a high-powered Manhattan lawyer began exploring Witchcraft, she discovered a spiritual movement that defied all stereotypes.  Encountering neither satanic rites nor eccentric spinsters, she came to embrace the reconstruction of Europe’s indigenous spirituality; the religion of the Goddess.  Book of Shadows chronicles Phyllis’ introduction and initiation inteo Wicca, her ascension to the position of Wiccan High Priestess, and her efforts to reconcile her newfound spirituality with her struggles as a woman rising through the ranks of the corporate world. Along the way, she relates the history of Witchcraft and shares many traditional Wiccan practices.  Engagingly written and rich with detailed rituals, spells, and techniques, this inspirational book traces a modern woman’s spiritual journey into a realm of extraordinary experience and enlightenment.

The Firebrand by Marion Zimmer Bradley – Blending archaeological fact and legend, the myths of the gods and the feats of heroes, Marion Zimmer Bradley breathes new life into the classic tale of the Trojan War-reinventing larger-than-life figures as living people engaged in a desperate struggle that dooms both the victors and the vanquished, their fate seen through the eyes of Kassandra-priestess, princess, and passionate woman with the spirit of a warrior.

What are your favorites?

Lyssa is a Mad Scientist by day (well, evening shift) and extreme crafter and designer, the rest of the time. Her main passion is reading, journaling and card making/paper crafts. She also dallies in jewelry design and needlecrafts, and the chemistry and fun of cold-processed soaps and custom bath and spa products. She doesn't sit still very well, and loves to bring new projects to life.
